What is a rakat?
A rakat is one unit of Islamic prayer. Each rakat includes standing, bowing, prostration, and recitation.
What happens in one rakat?
Standing
You recite Surah Fatiha and another surah in many prayers.
Bowing
You go into ruku and glorify Allah.
Standing again
You rise from bowing.
Two prostrations
You perform two sujud with a short sitting between them.
