Visiting Madinah: Complete Guide to the Prophet's City

Introduction

Madinah al-Munawwarah (The Radiant City) holds a special place in every Muslim's heart. While visiting Madinah is not part of Umrah, most pilgrims include it in their trip to receive the immense blessings of the Prophet's city.

Before You Visit: Important Notes

Not Part of Umrah

  • Visiting Madinah is Sunnah, not obligatory
  • No special Ihram state required
  • Wear normal modest clothing
  • Can be done before or after Umrah

Virtue of Visiting Madinah

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Whoever visits me after my death, it is as if he visited me during my lifetime." (Daraqutni)

"One prayer in my mosque is better than one thousand prayers elsewhere, except al-Masjid al-Haram." (Bukhari & Muslim)

Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet's Mosque)
