The Miraculous Origin of Zamzam

The Story of Hajar and Ismail

Around 4,000 years ago, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) left his wife Hajar and infant son Ismail in the barren valley of Makkah by Allah's command.

When their water ran out, Hajar desperately ran between the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times, searching for water or help. This act is commemorated in the Sa'i ritual of Umrah.

While she ran, baby Ismail was crying and kicking his heels on the ground. Suddenly, by the mercy of Allah, a spring gushed forth beneath his feet - this was Zamzam.
