Cutting Hair (Halq/Taqsir)

After Sa'i, men either shave the head (halq, better in reward) or trim equally from all sides (taqsir). Women trim only a small amount from the ends of their hair. This completes Umrah and lifts Ihram restrictions.

Sunnah Actions

Sunnah Guidelines

  • For men, halq is more rewarding than taqsir
  • The Prophet ﷺ made dua three times for those who shave and once for those who trim
  • Women trim around fingertip length (about 1 to 2 cm) from all ends
  • Shaving is prohibited for women; only trimming is allowed
  • After this, Ihram restrictions are lifted and normal activities resume
  • Thank Allah and ask for acceptance

All praise is due to Allah who has guided us to this, and we would not have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Indeed, the messengers of our Lord came with the truth.

O Allah, accept our Umrah, forgive our sins, and have mercy on us with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah, make this Umrah blessed, the sins forgiven, the effort appreciated, the deeds accepted, and the trade that will never perish.
