Ihram

Before reaching the Miqat (designated boundary), recite the travel dua. Then enter the state of Ihram. For men, this means wearing two white unstitched cloths: the Izar (around the waist) and the Rida (over the shoulders). For women, normal modest Islamic clothing is worn in any permissible color (white is preferred), while the face and hands remain uncovered in Ihram (no niqab and no gloves, as in Bukhari 1838). Make your intention for Umrah sincerely in your heart and recite Talbiyah loudly (men) or quietly (women). There are three types of Ihram intention: Tamattu (Umrah then Hajj separately), Qiran (Umrah and Hajj together), and Ifrad (Hajj only).
